    Work Safety Bill 2008 - Exposure Draft

    On 6 June 2008 the Government released an exposure draft of the new Work Safety Bill 2008  for six weeks consultation.

    Preferred Rehabilitation Provider Panel

    ACT Government has contracted a group of rehabilitation providers to deliver occupational rehabilitation services to injured or ill employees to assist them with their return to work.

    The successful providers are registered and approved under the Comcare system and have been selected through a rigorous process to improve the services provided to ACT Government agencies and their employees.

    The successful rehabilitation providers have been contracted for a period of two years with an option for a one year extension. They will provide services for employees in respect of both compensable and non-compensable injuries.

    A policy has been developed to provide guidance on the way in which the Panel will operate.

    Stress and Psychological Injuries Toolkit

    This site was developed by the ACT Government to assist employees dealing with stress in the workplace. It provides advice for staff on both how to prevent injuries arising from stress as well as how to respond when they do experience negative reactions, and for managers wanting to assist staff who may be experiencing problems.

    ACT Public Sector Workplace Health Strategic Plan

    A strategic plan has been developed for injury prevention and management across the A.C.T. Government’s public sector. The plan covers the period 2005-07 and is to be used as a template for individual public sector agency plans.

    A template for self-audits of ACTPS Safety Management Systems (SMS) is also available for use by ACT public sector agencies. This will be of particular use for small agencies or for Divisions or Groups within agencies.

    Injury Prevention Agreement and Policy Statement

    As of 1 September 2003, all parties to the ACT Public Service Injury Prevention Agreement and the ACT Public Service Injury Prevention Policy have signed the relevant documents and the Agreement has entered into force.

    ACT Public Service Occupational Health and Safety Policies

    These policies are approved by the Commissioner for Public Administration and provide information and practical guidance to assist public sector agencies and instrumentalities in meeting their workplace safety responsibilities.

    Managing Safety in the Workplace

    These documents provide guidance on hazard identification, assessment and control in the ACT Public Service and provide a simple checklist for conducting a safety audit.

    These tools allow agencies and instrumentalities to assess their safety performance.

    Core Competencies for OHS Advisers and Case Managers

    These documents are a guide to the knowledge and skills required to be an OHS Adviser/Case Managers in the ACT Public Service.

    ACT Government/Comcare Partnership Agreement

    The Partnership Agreement between the ACT Government and Comcare Australia sets out the roles and responsibilities of each of the parties and outlines services to be provided by Comcare.

    ACT Public Sector Workers' Compensation Premiums

    Workers' compensation for the ACT public sector is provided under the Commonwealth's Safety, Rehabilitation & Compensation Act 1988. Each year, a premium pool is set for the whole of the ACT public sector. This pool is then allocated to agencies and Territory Instrumentalities on the basis of claims performance. The following guide describes the main features of the methodology for devolving the premium pool.
