ACT Government has contracted a group of rehabilitation providers
to deliver occupational rehabilitation services to injured or ill
employees to assist them with their return to work.
The successful providers are registered and approved under the Comcare system
and have been selected through a rigorous process to improve the services provided
to ACT Government agencies and their employees.
The successful rehabilitation providers have been contracted for a period of
two years with an option for a one year extension. They will provide services
for employees in respect of both compensable and non-compensable injuries.
This site was developed by the ACT Government to assist employees
dealing with stress in the workplace. It provides advice for
staff on both how to prevent injuries arising from stress as
well as how to respond when they do experience negative reactions,
and for managers wanting to assist staff who may be experiencing
problems.
A strategic
plan has been developed for injury prevention and management
across the A.C.T. Government’s public sector. The plan
covers the period 2005-07 and is to be used as a template for
individual public sector agency plans.
A template for
self-audits of ACTPS Safety Management Systems (SMS) is also
available for use by ACT public sector agencies. This will be
of particular use for small agencies or for Divisions or Groups
within agencies.
Injury Prevention Agreement and Policy
Statement
As of 1 September 2003, all parties to the ACT Public Service
Injury Prevention Agreement and the ACT Public Service Injury
Prevention Policy have signed the relevant documents and the
Agreement has entered into force.
ACT Public Service Occupational Health
and Safety Policies
These policies are approved by the Commissioner for Public
Administration and provide information and practical guidance
to assist public sector agencies and instrumentalities in meeting
their workplace safety responsibilities.
These documents provide guidance on hazard identification,
assessment and control in the ACT Public Service and provide
a simple checklist for conducting a safety audit.
The Partnership Agreement between the ACT Government and Comcare
Australia sets out the roles and responsibilities of each of
the parties and outlines services to be provided by Comcare.
Workers' compensation for the ACT public sector is provided
under the Commonwealth's Safety, Rehabilitation & Compensation
Act 1988. Each year, a premium pool is set for the whole
of the ACT public sector. This pool is then allocated to agencies
and Territory Instrumentalities on the basis of claims performance.
The following guide describes the main features of the methodology
for devolving the premium pool.
